Gone the way of the Dodo: AKA Homo Dodosimilis
Cast Iron, Wood; 26”x18”x22.”
Much like the Dodo bird that was too dumb to survive, the foolishness of humans is leading us to our own extinction event. Sciene tells us all the ways we are leading ourselves to demise and yet we are too dumb to survive and too proud to admit our mistakes. Displayed in a traditional natural history museum style, with a felt lined wood base and brass identification placard, the sculpture feels like it could be a fossil. The importance of the fossils displayed in museums is to aid the future generations in learning from the past. Displaying the sculpture in this manner conveys the importance of learning from our past and growing intellectually into the future.
